Where To Find Cheap Exercise Bikes
|
You've decided to take the plunge and buy an exercise bike. You've made a wise decision, exercise cycles are a great way to get a low-impact high-cardio workout. Now all you have to worry about is how to finance it. There are ways to obtain an exercise bike inexpensively (notice I didn't say cheap exercise bikes, although this will be examined). What Is The Price Range? Depending on the features you want and the type of exercise bike you would like, you can expect to pay anywhere from $0 to upwards of $2000. Used exercise bikes come in all shapes, sizes and prices. You just really have to know what you want when looking for a used exercise bike. You Won't Get Something For Nothing In the $0 category, you'll likely find the old style exercise bike you may remember your mother or aunt having in the basement (usually full of laundry). These bikes are popular at garage sales or even set out in the street on trash day. The problem with these bikes are their inherent noise and limited features. Do yourself a favor and skip these. Now We're Looking Better Once you start getting into the $100 range, used exercise bikes start getting good. You probably can find a good used exercise bike with features such as a computerized control panel, air or mechanical resistance systems, and a host of other goodies. Also starting in this range are the new bikes usually offered by big box discount stores. Again, you may want to stay away from these new models. Oh, they're ok, but if you're serious about using your bike, it pays to get as much as you can in the way of quality and durability. Best Used Price Now, when you get to the $200-$300 dollar range, you probably will find what you are looking for, a bike in good shape that will provide you with years of trouble-free service. You probably will pay a little more for a recumbent than an upright, but if you have lower back troubles, you probably want to seriously consider a recumbent. Used Dealers Used exercise equipment dealers are excellent places to look for a used bike, and you will have the ability to ask a salesperson about the bike, unlike on line sites or auction sites where you kinda have to take your chances. Find A Club Quality Bike Another option to consider is this: health clubs need to upgrade their equipment every so often. When they do, you may be able to pick up a club quality exercise bike for a great price. Check with the centers in your area to see if they are planning on upgrading any time soon, and what they plan to do with their old bikes. You really can't go wrong if you stay within the $200-300 range. Just be sure to test a bike out thoroughly before you buy. Do plenty of research to determine what features you would like in an exercise cycle, and then just find the best deal you can. |
