The Proper Exercise Bike Seat Can Make All The Difference
In order for you to want to use your new exercise bike, you will want to make sure all aspects of your ride are comfortable and conducive to riding and working out. This includes the exercise bike seat. Exactly the same as a regular bike, an exercise bike requires a comfortable seat. Everybody is different in size and shape and we all have differing needs when it comes to our fitness equipment. It is imperative that your exercise bike seat is a good fit for you. And here’s the good part. If your exercise bike comes with a seat that is not a great fit for you, you can always change it out for one that is a good fit. Many exercise bike parts manufactures now make adapter assemblies that allow you to do just that.
The perfect seat will not place pressure on the area where nerves are located causing pain and numbness. You may have seen seats designed specifically with this need in mind. They are the “two pad” designs. Other types are the noseless and horseshoe varieties. In the past, traditional seats simply were grooved in the middle, thus achieving the same effect. Typically, if you want more comfort, opt for a wider seat that will offer more support.
Another point to keep in mind when looking at an exercise bike seat is what the seat is filled with. Obviously a hard seat will not do you any good, and you’ll probably give up pretty quickly. The best fillings at the moment are gel, air, and high density foam fillings be aware of what you are looking at. Different fillings have a completely different feeling. Just as a note, gel can get hard and make the seat uncomfortably hard. Keep in mind that avid riders are always making suggestions, and manufacturers, wanting to keep their customers happy keep up on them. Always be looking for new things.
Exercise bike seat covers come in a wide array of materials. Newest fabric covers are light years ahead of old traditional materials that tended to trap moisture between the rider and the seat. Very uncomfortable. Although, an old standby in the form of sheepskin is still an excellent choice. Bear in mind that you don’t necessarily have to replace an entire seat if you want to try something new, or really like the basic fit of your seat. Most materials are available as covers for any seat.
Of course, no fancy seat design, filling or cover is worth anything if it is not comfortable for you. Only you can tell for sure what you like. Happily, there is a myriad of choices available; in fact it may be confusing at first. The best thing you can do if possible is to ride on a seat before you decide to purchase it. You may be able to try them on for size in the store. Remember, you want the best fit for you. Go slow when shopping and shop wisely. If an exercise bike seat isn’t comfortable you won’t use it for long.
